We are looking for a motivated and driven candidate to join Dr. Shilpa Ray team, which is part of Senior Professor Anders Sönnerborgs research group at the Centrum for Infectious Medicine (CIM), subunit Clinical Infectious Diseases (CID), Department of Medicine, Huddinge, to study the role of novel drugs against antibacterial resistance. Your mission
We are looking for an ambitious full-time research assistant in the team of Dr. Shilpa Ray, whose main working tasks will be to evaluate immunological changes in primary cells in response to bacterial infection. This includes extensive in vitro experiments including cell culture, standard molecular techniques, and bacteriological methods. The applicant will perform their research within the framework of Dr. Shilpa Ray’s projects and is also expected to give intellectual and administrative support to other members of the group.
The position is a fixed-term appointment for 6 months.
Your profile
We are looking for a motivated and team-oriented person with excellent English skills and basic knowledge in primary cell culture techniques and flow cytometry.
You should have:
- A master’s degree in microbiology, biomedicine, biology or similar. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the time of the employment decision.
- Wet-lab experience in microbiological work
- Expert in cell culture and primary cell culture techniques
- Experience with flow cytometry techniques and data analysis
- Expertise on a broad range of microbiology and molecular biology techniques
- Significant knowledge in biology with a focus on bacteriology and the pathogenesis of bacterial diseases.
- Experience of research in BSL-2 laboratory facilities.
- Experience in standard molecular biology techniques, such as DNA/RNA isolation from tissues or cells, PCR, quantitative PCR, cloning, SDS PAGE, western blotting ELISA, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation.
- Excellent knowledge in English, written and spoken, is a requirement.
- Good collaboration skills and ability to operate independently
In addition, it is an advantage if the candidate has previous experience in confocal imaging.
