Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
Join the dynamic and collaborative group led by Prof. Maja Jagodic at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. The group is a part of the Karolinska Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis (KNIMS) network which gathers approximately 100 researchers who work with different aspects of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) pathogenesis. This opportunity allows you to contribute to interactive research fueled by relevant clinical questions, merging a deep molecular understanding of the mechanisms behind MS with access to some of the world's most competitive clinical cohorts. You will benefit from a highly collaborative, engaged, and international research environment dedicated to exploring innovative translational ideas.
Your mission
We are looking for a Research Assistant who will be hands-on driving several bioinformatics analyses under the guidance of our senior bioinformatician, Dr. Maria Needhamsen. You will be implementing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows and bioinformatics pipelines to analyze omics data, sequence alignment, quality control, statistical analysis and visualization. You will be expected to work in a collaborative environment, actively engaging with other group members and collaborators. Your contributions will need to align with the research group’s goals and interests, ensuring integration within the team and unit.
Your profile
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who shares our passion for translational research on complex diseases.

- Documented experience (i.e., a minimum project work resulting in a written report, only a course comprising analyses will not be considered) with full NGS data analysis (e.g., RNA-sequencing and/or DNA methylome-sequencing) including quality control, normalization, exploratory analysis, statistics and visualization
- Strong interest in utilizing bioinformatics to understand complex human diseases.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Team player spirit.
Meritorious
