At the Division of Renal Medicine, Baxter Novum, we have the research line "Food as Medicine in
Chronic Kidney Disease", which focuses mainly on how dietary patterns and nutrients can be used for mitigating metabolic disorders that occur as kidney function decreases. We also focus on research in the field of nutrition screening and assessment for better planning energy and nutrient needs. For that, observational and interventional studies are carried for responding to research questions within the field of nutrition and chronic kidney disease. Ultimately, we aim to use nutrition as part of the treatment of the disease and providing evidence-based practices. The studies are carried at the clinical research unit from Nephrology division at Karolinska University Hospital with a team comprised by nephrologists, research nurses and renal nutritionist.
Your mission
The role involves planning, leading, and conducting both independent and collaborative research projects in clinical nutrition and nephrology. Responsibilities include applying rigorous scientific methods to investigate metabolism, dietary interventions, and body composition, as well as analyzing complex data using statistical software such as SPSS, R, or SAS. Research findings are published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences, seminars, and symposia. The position also includes supervising students at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, and participating in examinations and research training. Collaboration with researchers and clinicians, both nationally and internationally, is an integral part of the work. The role also entails actively applying for external research funding and managing project budgets and resources. Additional responsibilities include contributing to scientific publications, engaging in research networks, and staying up to date with developments in nutrition, nephrology, and related fields through continuous professional development.
Your profile
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
- Long-term experience as a clinical dietitian with a focus on medical kidney diseases as well as work in nutrition research with a focus on medical kidney diseases
- Proven scientific production, good knowledge of statistics, experience in leading intervention
- Excellent ability to express oneself in the English language, orally and in writing, the working language in the group is largely English
- Proven experience through several previous publications, as well as experience in performing and interpreting ultrasound examinations of muscles for body composition evaluation
- Experience in analyzing studies in the field of clinical nutrition and chronic kidney disease
- Good ability to coordinate scientific projects
- Initiative and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
