Together with the client we’re looking for an experienced Head of Accounting to lead their accounting team in Gothenburg.
In this strategic leadership role, you’ll oversee financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls while contributing to the company’s growth through insightful financial management. Your expertise in accounting, paired with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, will ensure the integrity and transparency of our financial operations.
Assignment Description
- Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Internal Controls: Establish, monitor, and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard data integrity.
- Leadership: Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
- Audit Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with external auditors to ensure smooth audit processes.
- Budget & Forecasting: Collaborate with stakeholders to align financial planning with organizational goals.
- Risk Management: Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and engage with relevant stakeholders.
- Process Optimization: Drive process mapping and improvements, ensuring a structured and efficient way of working.
- Shared Services Collaboration: Work closely with our Shared Services Centre to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Performance Metrics: Develop and track KPIs to measure and improve the accounting department’s effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred).
- Extensive experience in accounting and financial management, including AR, AP, Treasury, Tax, Group Reporting, and Consolidation.
- Proven track record in multinational companies, with at least Europe-wide exposure.
- Minimum 8 years in accounting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (10+ years overall preferred).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and professional accounting standards.
- Hands-on and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Solid experience in internal controls and process mapping.
- Project management experience in complex, international environments.
- Resilient, tough, and hardworking — ready to take on challenges and work overtime when needed.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
- Experience collaborating with Shared Services Centres.
- Proficiency in financial systems and tools.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
