Pre-Commissioning Mechanical Specialist

Job Overview:

Reports to the Pre-commissioning Manager and assist planning and execution of safe and efficient pre-commissioning activities, and for supporting the Client for the Commissioning, Start-up, and Performance Testing of the facility to achieve the production and performance objectives and contractual objectives.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Lead the coordination and implementation of all mechanical commissioning requirements on the project
• Responsible for the execution of the plant mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in accordance with the Commissioning Execution Plan
• Supervise the assigned pre-commissioning team personnel, subcontractors, and Client personnel in the execution of pre-commissioning activities in a safe, efficient, and successful manner
• Oversee pre-commissioning activities for mechanical equipment oil flushing, final alignments of rotating equipment, loading & final closure of stationary equipment within his area of responsibility, and repair and refurbishment of mechanical equipment during commissioning and operations as required
• Manage commissioning activities for rotating machinery packages test runs and performance tests within his area of responsibility as required
• Responsible for liaison with equipment manufacturers and suppliers for mechanical pre-commissioning, commissioning and repairs procedures for mechanical equipment / packages as required
• Responsible to review and confirm lubrication fluid and grease requirements on the project and development of Lubrication Schedule
• Interface with the Sub-contractors on site for all Pre-commissioning activities
• Work with vendors and assist in Vendor Coordination for SAT’s and initial start-up as required
• Develop work plans for execution of mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
• Develop Safe Work Practice Procedures for all mechanical maintenance activities
• Coordinate the issue of PTW and job safety analysis
• Work collaboratively within the Project team and with Client to maintain positive relationships
• The project is in the Green Steel Market, and located near Boden, Sweden
• Develop programs, procedures, and activities necessary for the safe and efficient commissioning, repair, and maintenance of all plant mechanical equipment (Static, Rotating, Piping and HVA/C), as required
• Review interfaces with static equipment and piping for coordination of Gross Air Leak Tests, and Commissioning Leak tests as required
• Work closely with the Construction group for installation completion inspections and accepting the completed works as deemed ready for pre-commissioning
• Liaise with the Systems Completion Manager for systemization of drawings and validation of the mechanical data in the completions database
• Participate in the Completion walkdowns, punch-list development and clearing of punch-list items by the Construction group or the subcontractor
• Review the mechanical content of the pre-commissioning dossiers in accordance with project requirements
• Provide mechanical input to the Commissioning Schedule
• Provide mechanical input to scope of work subcontracted packages as required
• Provide mechanical input for Spares, Consumables and Tools
• Plan daily activities based on schedule requirements, procedures, and available work fronts

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with static and rotating machinery equipment & packages in Oil & Gas Industry, Power Industry, or in Steel Industry
• Demonstrate a broad technical knowledge of construction and completion activities
• Understanding of static equipment and piping systems for development of test packs
• Strong knowledge of the mechanical, and process systems used in EPC projects
• Familiar with ISO and EU Standards and Directives (PED, ATEX)
• Able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers
• Must have good computer software skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
• Must have good organizational skills and be adaptable to the needs of various discipline groups
• Must have the ability to assess and communicate project requirements and expectations in a clearly defined, positive and productive manner
• Proficiency in English, Multi-language skills are a plus
• Has a valid driver’s license (for Sweden or easy transferable)
