The opportunity
The Valve Mechanical Design team is looking for a Global Manager to join the team. In this role, you will have direct personnel responsibility, and your main objective will be to develop and implement strategic initiatives that put the product at the center of attention. This is a global role, meaning that you will have the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders globally.
The products that you will be working with in this role are the Converter Valves, which is the heart of an HVDC station — pulsing with precision, power, and purpose. It is the core component that enables the conversion and control of electrical energy across vast distances. As we transition from a project-based to a product-based business model, we are looking for a leader who is passionate about creating quality in the product, processes, and deliveries.
“We are on a bold journey to transform into a product-oriented organization—one that leads the energy transition with innovation, agility, and purpose. As our new Global Manager for Mechanical Design, you will be at the center of this transformation, leading a global team that designs the mechanical backbone of our HVDC Valve systems.” – Hiring Manager Matts Gunnarsson
How you’ll make an impact
Lead and develop a global team of mechanical design engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation.
Drive the transition from project to product, aligning design processes with our evolving product lifecycle strategy.
Champion the implementation of PLM systems and digital tools (e.g., Teamcenter/NX), ensuring design excellence and traceability.
Translate strategic goals into clear, actionable plans—balancing technical depth with business acumen.
Collaborate closely with R&D, product management, manufacturing, and quality to ensure robust, scalable, and cost-effective designs and processes.
Act as a change leader, guiding your team through transformation with empathy, clarity, and purpose.
Your background
Proven people manager or leadership experience in a global engineering environment—ideally within power systems, energy, or industrial technology.
Strong understanding of PLM systems, modular design, and product development frameworks.
A track record of leading teams through organizational change, with a focus on people development, diversity, and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication skills in English; Swedish is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with cultural sensitivity and the ability to lead diverse teams across geographies and comfortability with building strong relationships with employees and management.
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent knowledge gained through experience); advanced degrees or certifications in PLM, systems engineering, or change management are a plus.
