Engineering Manager - Team Discovery in Vend Recommerce

Recommerce in Vend is responsible for a portfolio of Nordic brands: Finn, Tori, Dba and Blocket. We are proud of our work to enable second-hand trade in the Nordics and our contribution to a positive environmental impact.
Location: We work hybrid, so we are in the office 2- 3 days at our modern offices in Stockholm to promote team collaboration. Prefer an office environment? You’re welcome to join us daily.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Referring directly to the CTO for Recommerce and working with a broad selection of stakeholders, ie Product Director and the Product and Tech leadership team, You will be leading Team Discovery, based in Sweden.
The team mission is helping users find what they’re looking for through structured and intelligent search experiences. It includes how results are presented (Search Result Presentation), how users narrow them down (Filtering), and how they're ordered (Sorting/Ranking). Discovery also supports saved searches, and is powered by structured ad data (Ad Model, Taxonomy) and AI search for natural-language and meaning-based queries.
- You will, together with a Product Manager and a UX specialist, drive cross-functional teams of developers
- You will together make sure our products are getting love and attention from all three perspectives when they are built, and the strategy and direction set
WHO ARE YOU?
- You love connecting with different kinds of people, building online products and all things tech
- As our Engineering Manager, you’ll focus on constantly growing our engineers while solving complex technical problems that deliver impact on our products and business on a daily basis
- The business mindset, the ability to translate tech business strategy and needs, into language anyone can understand is also a key to success
- A background in software development would be great, but as long as you understand your team and get their buy-in, any background in tech could be useful
- You follow your promises, are transparent with your failures, and communicate to build trust
- In addition, you are used to driving one-to-one and one-to-many communications with the ability to make a strategy come alive
Background/skills
- Experience in developing people and teams through management, coaching and mentoring
- Dedicated and motivated problem solver with ability to form strong and cross-team partnerships
- Have experience and good results from data-driven product development
- Experience and knowledge about Search, AI, cloud infrastructure and cloud computing is considered a merit.
