The Commercial Function spans the areas of Commercial, Strategy, Public & Governmental Affairs, Defense Affairs, Sustainability, and Marketing. You will serve as a key member of the unit working closely with colleagues within and across functions and divisions for the benefit of SSC group.



YOUR ROLE

As Head of Commercial Excellence, you will play a key role in shaping SSC’s commercial direction ensuring strong performance across pricing, sales excellence and contract management. You will ensure successful pricing strategies, contract robustness, effective sales process/operations as well as develop and implement SSC Group commercial strategy. You will work both strategically and tactically hands-on with divisions and functions and act as the SSC Group’s point of contact and control for commercial excellence matters and business deals.

The Head of Commercial Excellence has a wide range of tasks, collaborating closely with divisions and functions to drive key engagements and initiatives. Your key tasks include:


  • Develop and implement pricing strategies, models and levels across SSC Group in hands-on collaboration with divisions to maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market.
  • Lead sales excellence initiatives to strengthen sales performance and efficiency, including owning the SSC sales process & continuous improvements, and implementing performance metrics and playbooks/training programs.
  • Oversee and strengthen contract management to optimize SSC’s position and terms & conditions in commercial agreements and maximize financials during contract lifetime, e.g. in collaboration with legal and divisions.
  • Develop and implement SSC Group’s overall commercial strategy to drive profitable growth, e.g. in collaboration with divisions and strategy.
  • Lead commercial review projects as per needs basis, e.g. to enhance and align divisional and group functions for effective structure and execution.
  • Collaborate with divisions, sales/business development, service/product development, delivery and customer service teams to achieve commercial and business objectives.
  • Conduct and present commercial analysis and performance metrics to Executives and senior stakeholders, e.g. in collaboration with strategy, marketing and sales/business development.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a results-oriented hands-on commercial professional with a strategic mindset and a strong business sense. You have solid experience from pricing, contract management and commercial execution, ideally in a tech-driven industry. You’re comfortable navigating complex cross-functional collaborations and know how to balance speed, structure, and commercial control while being a strong team player.

To thrive in this role, we believe you have:

  • A strong understanding of pricing strategy and hands-on experience with pricing models and execution.
  • Experience of leading commercial processes and developing sales excellence (e.g. sales processes, ways of working/guidance, customer relationship management and performance).
  • Experience of contract management, including terms & conditions and commercial risks and maximizing financials during contract lifetime.
  • A background that includes +10 years experience in sales, with track record of closing commercial agreements and driving profitable growth, in a commercial management position or full sales role or both
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate insights at Executive level.
  • Preferably experience in the space industry or closely related tech industry
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen and proficiency in analyzing commercial models, performance metrics and customer data.
  • Effective communicator with stakeholder at all levels and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

You’re not afraid to take the lead and be the “gatekeeper” when necessary and are self-directed with the ability to remain focused. You enjoy working across teams and functions, and you have a deep understanding of what it takes to make sound business decisions in a complex and technical context. As this is a dynamic role that may change you are flexible and adapt well to changing environments and responsibilities.

LOCATION
