What you’ll do
As a Senior Network Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of Schibsted’s network operations: designing, evolving, and safeguarding the infrastructure that powers our media brands across the Nordics. From cloud to on-prem, you’ll work with cutting-edge tools and enterprise-grade hardware to ensure our networks are fast, secure, and always on.
You’ll lead incident responses, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with security and platform teams. Whether you’re designing new architectures, troubleshooting critical issues, or driving network automation, your work keeps our systems resilient and our journalists connected.
You’re someone who understands the importance of both technical depth and clear communication. You’re analytical, independent, and always looking ahead, anticipating problems and building smarter solutions.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Design and maintain scalable LAN/WAN architectures across hybrid environments
- Configure and support firewalls, routers, switches, wireless networks, and VPNs
- Monitor network health and security with modern tools and proactive analysis
- Lead incident responses, root cause analysis, and major troubleshooting efforts
- Collaborate with security teams to strengthen network defenses
- Support cloud networking integrations (AWS, Azure)
- Drive automation through scripting and infrastructure-as-code approaches
- Document network configurations, standards, and operational procedures
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams
- Manage vendors and ensure smooth procurement and operations of network equipment
What we’re looking for:
You’re a senior-level network expert with a track record of delivering robust solutions in complex environments. You balance deep technical expertise with a strategic mindset and thrive when solving both immediate issues and long-term challenges.
We believe you bring:
- 5+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures
- Relevant certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, are preferred, though equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, subnetting
- Proficiency in Cisco and Fortigate devices and enterprise networking gear
- Hands-on experience with VPNs, load balancing, and Zero Trust principles
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and SD-WAN
- Expertise in network monitoring tools (e.g. Wireshark)
- Scripting skills (Python, Bash, Ansible) for automation and efficiency
- A structured, analytical, and independent working style
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams
