Project-Specific Researcher at CBEES – Focus on Belarus and the Politics of the Lukashenka Regime (3 months)

Södertörns högskola
Stockholms län
Full time
för 3 veckor sedan

Södertörn University is a higher education institution in Stockholm that conducts education, research, and collaboration for sustainable societal development. We have around 14 000 students, 80 programmes and 300 courses, and we conduct education and research in the humanities, social sciences, technology and natural sciences. The university also offers police education and teacher education with an intercultural profile. A great deal of our research relates to the Baltic Sea region and Eastern Europe. We combine subjects, perspectives, people and experiences, and are worldminded, curious and questioning, searching for surprising syntheses, challenges and development.

The Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) is tasked with stimulating and developing Södertörn University’s multidisciplinary research and doctoral (third-cycle) education with a focus on the Baltic Sea region and Eastern Europe. CBEES’ objective is to increase the national and international impact of Baltic and Eastern European research from Södertörn University, as well as to achieve recognition of the university’s status as a knowledge hub. CBEES is a point of contact, not just within the university, but also for other research environments and the surrounding community. CBEES organises regular seminars, international conferences, summer schools, lectures, workshops, doctoral student meetings, and courses, and it publishes the Baltic Worlds journal. The research centre has professors, visiting researchers, postdocs, doctoral students and research coordinators. The working language at CBEES is English.

We are now welcoming applications for one project-specific researcher at CBEES. We are primarily interested in applications from researchers who specialise in the study of Belarus and the politics of the Lukashenka regime.

Job description

The duties of a project-specific researcher include research and associated tasks. We seek a researcher to develop and lead a project focused on Belarus. The project should contribute to a deeper understanding of Belarusian society, the politics of the Lukashenka regime, and the prospects of a Belarusian political opposition.

The position includes participating in CBEES activities and presenting research results at the CBEES Advanced seminar or at a separate topical event, such as a workshop or a roundtable. The chosen candidate is expected to work on-site at CBEES and join our research environment.

Qualifications

To qualify for the project-specific researcher position at CBEES, you must have a doctoral degree or equivalent research expertise in a relevant subject. You must also have the personal skills necessary to meet the demands of the position and to be able to represent the university in a way that benefits its activities.
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required.
Research expertise is demonstrated through scholarly publications in the relevant subject area, participation in research projects, research collaborations, and contributions to the development of the subject.
