About the role
As the Platform Product Owner, you will join a high-performing team driving the evolution of our Customs Core Services Platform. In this pivotal role, you will own the global customs declarations solution—shaping the strategy for seamless, scalable integration of customs procedures across markets. Your mission: to lead the transformation toward a zero-touch customs process that simplifies global trade.
This role calls for a strong understanding of the customs domain, a solid technical foundation, and exceptional product and stakeholder management skills. You will own one of our global digital customs products through its entire lifecycle—from discovery and prototyping to development, testing, and continuous iteration—ensuring the delivery of high-impact, high-quality solutions that meet real customer and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development:
- Prepare strategic approach toward global extension of the customs declaration product.
- Lead cross functional team to drive product roadmap, setting measurable goals that align with our platform's success measures and value drivers.
- Work closely with stakeholders of business product team and functional product to ensure the customs declaration product strategy is aligned with product growth and operational excellence and efficiency.
- Work closely with tech team, ensure the solution is scalable and aligned with product vision.
- Utilize a data-driven approach to identify opportunities for product growth.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and advocate for user-centered design in product delivery.
- Coordinate product development with other product teams to minimise risks and manage dependencies.
- Engage with users, customers and stakeholders through a range of channels to encourage awareness and use of your product.
- Be involved in a range of product strategy and product management activities, in support of the head of platform, and play an instrumental role in the Core customs services platform team, sharing your learning and celebrating progress.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across Maersk Technology and non-technology teams to ensure product development aligns with broader business goals and market needs.
Strategic Contribution:
- Participate in wider decision-making processes, contributing to the development of practices, processes, and procedures.
- Work independently within a broad framework, solving complex challenges and considering the broader impact of decisions on the organization.
- Collaborate with other functions to ensure seamless integration and implementation of solutions across the company.
Qualifications:
- Customs experience is highly advantageous, with a deep understanding of the specific challenges and requirements in this field.
- Extensive experience in product development, with a robust technical background in building and launching products.
- Excellent data analytical skills and experience in data-driven product development.
- Profound understanding of business operations, industry trends, and cross-functional interdependencies, particularly within a technology-driven environment like Maersk.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and drive effective solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing and leading cross-functional teams across both technical and functional areas, as well as other stakeholders.
