The Pancreatology Research Group at the Department of Surgery
The doctoral position is located in the Pancreatology Research Group at the Department of Surgery, Lund University. The focus is on pancreatic cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of human tumors. Pancreatic cancer is usually detected too late and lacks effective treatment. Our strategy combines clinical patient material and advanced protein research to develop new biomarkers for earlier diagnosis and treatment response.

Work assignments
The doctoral student will work in a translational project in the field of pancreatic cancer.
The aim of the doctoral project is to develop a proteomics-based blood test for early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and validate the test in relevant risk groups. Furthermore, the project includes in vitro studies on pancreatic cancer cells to investigate metastatic potential and inhibition of mechanisms such as blebbing.
Qualifications
Requirements for the Position:
- A university degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level, or an equivalent foreign degree related to the research field
- Documented research experience in pancreatic cancer
- Documented proficiency in spoken and written English
- Experience in structured research documentation
- Strong ability to work collaboratively
- Curiosity and commitment
Merits:
- Previous scientific publication in a peer-reviewed journal within the field of pancreatic cancer
Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.
The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
Type of employment
Limit of tenure, four years according to HF 5 kap 7§. The proposed start date is October 1st, 2025, or as agreed.
