Key Responsibilities – Permit to Work Process Development and Support
- Assess, design, and implement Permit to Work systems tailored to client needs.
- Develop documentation, workflows, and procedures to support safe work practices in high-risk operations.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff on PTW policies and safe systems of work.
- Regularly review and audit existing permit systems to drive continuous improvement and compliance with legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with site managers, safety representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to embed best practices across projects and operations.
- Advise on digital PTW solutions and support change management during transitions to new systems.
- Stay up to date with UK/EU HSE regulations and incorporate new requirements into client PTW procedures.
Desired Skills and Experience in Permit to Work Consulting
- Professional experience in health and safety, risk management, or process safety, ideally in construction, manufacturing, energy, or related sectors.
- Thorough understanding of UK permit to work legislation, HSE guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills with an analytical approach to solving complex safety challenges.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to deliver clear training and guidance to diverse teams.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of cross-functional groups.
- Familiarity with digital PTW platforms considered beneficial.
Qualifications – Health and Safety Consultant Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, health and safety, risk management, or a related technical discipline.
- Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Previous experience leading or supporting the rollout of permit to work or similar safety control systems.
