Due to growth in Geosyntec’s European operations, we have a new opportunity for an experienced Payroll Analyst to join our business in Stockholm. The successful candidate will report to and work closely with our US-based Payroll Manager, as well as our European HR and Finance teams, to timely and accurately process the company’s payroll and assist with enhancements to our current payroll processes and practices. This position is well-suited for someone who thrives when given autonomy in a fast-paced setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and process monthly payroll across several European countries, including the generation of payroll checks and printing standard reports, ensuring compliance with local regulations and company policies.
- Analyse payroll data to identify discrepancies, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Assist the Payroll Manager with the year-end audit of payroll-related procedures.
- Provide support, guidance and response to payroll-related inquiries.
- Prepare journal entry files for all payrolls and related PTO reports.
- Periodical auditing for pension and tax accuracy.
- Assist with payroll tax adjustments and amendments for tax correction purposes, as required.
- Assist with training and mentoring other team members where required.
- Assist with quarterly payroll general ledger reconciliation process.
- Assist with setting up tax withholdings and worker’s compensation calculations for new states and countries.
- Assist with setting up payroll for newly acquired companies; and performing related work as required.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate and efficient payroll operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations and practices in multiple European jurisdictions.
Education and Licensure
- High School diploma (Gymnasieexamen) or general education degree (GED). (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field of study (valuable)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of payroll experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the responsibilities of the position. (required)
- Experience with local taxing authority rules and regulations compliance. (required)
- Strong understanding of local taxing and payroll regulations and compliance requirements in Sweden (required) and ideally other European countries where we have operations (i.e. UK, Ireland, Spain, Finland, Portugal) (valuable)
Related valuable experience:
- Large payroll package experience. (Sage, ADP, UKG, Ceridian, preferred)
- Timekeeping system experience.
- Custom report experience (ReportSmith, Crystal, BI)
- Microsoft Office: Word, Intermediate to Advanced Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, queries)
- Taxable Fringe/Benefits in Kind experience.
