Head of Communications and Government Affairs (CGA), Sweden
We have a new opportunity for a Head of Communications and Government Affairs in Stockholm.
The Head of Communications and Government Affairs (CGA) Sweden will be accountable for delivery of GSK’s communication and government affairs strategies in Sweden. Ensuring GSK is perceived as a trusted partner externally, influencing national policy and managing external affairs matters both on an ongoing and issues management basis. As a member of GSK Sweden’s Lead team, you will be proactively identifying opportunities and addressing challenges across the business to ensure GSK Sweden achieves its ambition.
Role responsibilities,
- Be accountable for ensuring GSK Sweden deploys a single 'One GSK' consistent and integrated story promoted by sustained campaigns employing all elements of internal and external communication.
- Serve as the main liaison between the company and external stakeholders on governmental matters. Represent GSK's agenda and actions amongst key stakeholders (e.g. government, media, political parties, societies, representative organisations, NGOs, IGOs & trade associations).
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key government officials, legislators, and other public stakeholders.
- Drive "listening and analysis" providing early insights on healthcare, social, economic, and political developments of enterprise interest to inform business decisions.
- Coordinate and align with the regional above country CGA teams, sharing country insights and best practice and engaging with local stakeholders to support key regional and corporate policy and business priorities.
- Proactively engage in the health policy debate with various stakeholders internally and externally.
- Advise the Sweden Leadership Team on governmental and public policy issues, providing insights into the political environment and the potential impact on the company’s operations.
- Support senior leadership in crisis management, particularly on regulatory or policy issues that could affect product launches, pricing, or market access.
- Develop and execute public affairs strategies, specific to Oncology and Vaccines to communicate the company’s position on relevant governmental issues.
- Manage media relations and public perception in relation to government policies and regulations that affect the pharmaceutical industry.
- Monitor policy makers, legislative environment and debated changes and act proactively at relevant levels.
- Advise on and develop advocacy plans for GSK on priority policy issues in collaboration with internal multifunctional teams as well as the development of deliverables (e.g. position papers).
- Develop stakeholder mapping with customised advocacy, clear correlation to business priorities, and clear estimates of potential business opportunity.
- Track legislative and regulatory changes in Sweden and across Europe, and report relevant developments to the leadership team.
- Act as a custodian of GSK's brand and reputation. This means proactively identifying risks, opportunities and future trends with a short- and long-term view, sharing these insights and influence decision-making in the company.
- Bring the outside in requires the whole business to think about the reputational and external aspects to all activity. CGA is not simply about managing issues when they arise but ensuring a proactive mindset towards managing GSK's reputation.
- Contribute to the development and execution of product/commercial and wider corporate external communications plans that supports short- and long-term view business objectives and builds Trust externally.
- Understand the media landscape and the importance of newspaper, broadcast and digital reporting can impact GSK's licence to operate and demonstrate agility in how GSK interacts with media and for different purposes.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance and protect the company's reputation in Sweden, ensuring alignment with corporate values and key messaging across all traditional and online platforms eg LinkedIn.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Swedish media outlets and journalists to effectively communicate the company's initiatives, news, and responses to industry developments.
- Oversee the creation and delivery of internal communications to engage employees, ensure alignment with corporate objectives, and promote a positive company culture.
- Lead the development and execution of crisis communication strategies, managing any potential reputation risks, and responding to media or public inquiries during critical situations.
- Manage communication with key external stakeholders, including government bodies, and industry partners, ensuring that the company's messaging is clear, consistent, and transparent across all channels.
- Ensure GSK's culture, purpose, strategy, priorities are well communicated and embedded internally with the right support provided to leaders and spokespeople to communicate more autonomously but still effectively.
- Embody a Business First mindset as we seek to drive a cultural change in GSK and support change in the organization with effective communication.
- Where necessary to be prepared to work beyond core role to deliver best results for the organization.
- Role model GSK's culture. Adhere to GSK Code of Ethics, the LIR Code of marketing practice for the pharmaceutical industry and in line with scientific engagement principles.
- Must report safety issues occurring in association with any GSK product in an expeditious manner to the GSK Sweden pharmacovigilance department, in accordance with company SOP.

Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Leadership experience in communications, government affairs, public policy, market access or marketing at global or region level.
- 7+ years as Head of CGA, Governmental Affair roles in Pharma, Biotech or Medtech at country, region or global level
- 5+ years experience in either Oncology or Vaccines as commercial, marketing or CGA in country or region/global
- Advanced business judgement and analytical skills.
- Integrated into network of key stakeholders/payer customers in Sweden
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High personal accountability and integrity combined with the ability and experience to influence at a strategic level and gain the support and commitment of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated track record as a strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and creative, solution-focused approach
- Excellent business acumen and demonstrated sustained level of delivery of commercial performance
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to convey a compelling vision and inspire others to help achieve it
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

- Good knowledge of the pharmaceuticals market and GSK's internal operating environment.
- Values-led approach with a track record in delivering through people in teams and across a matrix.
- Leverages stakeholder networks, industry and other working groups to stay informed on current environment, market and customer trends and expected future developments
