Barnfonden is a politically and religiously independent child rights organisation based in Malmö, Sweden. Since 1991, we’ve worked to improve the lives of children around the world through rights-based, climate-aware, and community-driven development. As a member of the ChildFund Alliance, we support programmes across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, working alongside local partners to help children thrive at every life stage. A core programme funded through the generous support of over 20,000 Swedish sponsors and donors is supplemented by grants from major institutions such as Forum Civ/Sida, Radiohjälpen and the EU.
We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance and Compliance Officer to join our dynamic international programme team. The role is vital in ensuring strong financial quality, accountability, and compliance throughout the project cycle in line with Barnfonden’s and our donors’ requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of new grant applications, with a focus on project and programme budgeting.
- Ensure quality assurance and financial reporting for projects, including proper analysis and presentation of financial data.
- Coordinate and support audit processes, financial follow-up, and reporting to donors, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and monitor financial risks in collaboration with the Business and Project Controller.
- Support programme team with fund transfers, fund tracking, reconciliations, and reporting for projects.
- Review and ensure compliance with project agreements, budgets, and donor requirements.
- Assist in Barnfonden work with budget prognosis, monthly close processes and reconciliations.
- Contribute to desk audits and internal reviews of partners to strengthen financial accountability and transparency.
- Collaborate across departments and support other finance-related activities as required.

Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Experience in financial follow-up, budgeting, project audits, and reporting to institutional donors (e.g. Sida, EU, Forum Civ).
- Experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
- Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English, written and spoken.
- Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret financial information and make informed recommendations.
- Relevant academic degree or equivalent professional experience.
