We're looking for an Engineering Director to lead our Sound Platform and Digital Rights Management (DRM) areas. This pivotal role involves driving technical vision and strategic execution across five engineering teams, ensuring our technology evolves seamlessly with our product ambitions.
At Epidemic Sound, our engineering is at the heart of soundtracking the world. As an Engineering Director, you'll be instrumental in shaping our core sound platform and managing critical digital rights, guaranteeing our solutions are robust, scalable, and enable future product innovation. This is a platform and tech-heavy role where your strategic technical leadership will be key.
Responsibilities
As Engineering Director, you'll provide strategic technical leadership and oversight for five engineering teams, including Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers, connecting product vision to technical reality. Your responsibilities include:
Strategic Technical Leadership: Provide clear technical direction and architectural guidance, ensuring our platform supports long term product needs and identifying where specialized expertise is required.
Organizational Strategy & Manager Enablement: Oversee and empower engineering teams, fostering an environment where they excel. This includes managing and developing Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers under your leadership.
Driving Technical Excellence: Foster a culture of top-tier engineering, championing best practices, and pushing for continuous improvement across your domains.
Product-to-Tech Translation: Bridge ambitious product ideas with their technical implementation, ensuring engineering strategy directly supports business goals.
Building a high functioning organization. The Sound domain is core to everything we do at Epidemic and the DRM space is rapidly evolving. This will require you to shape the organization to manage both complex ongoing product needs and large scale strategic movements.
Requirements
To succeed in this impactful role, we believe you should have:
Proven experience as a Software Engineer and in technical leadership roles, specifically managing other managers.
A strong strategic understanding of platform-level challenges and a deep appreciation for complex technical systems in a tech-heavy environment.
Demonstrated ability to translate product vision into actionable technical strategy and scalable solutions.
Experience in organizational strategy for engineering teams, fostering growth and enabling high performance.
A change-driven mindset and a passion for evolving technical landscapes.
A track record of promoting excellent engineering practices and a commitment to quality.
