Our unit, belonging to Ericsson Research in Group Function Technology, is responsible for Ericsson's microwave and antenna hardware research. We have world leading competences in areas from digital and RF component design to packaging, building practices, antenna hardware and system design! We work intensively with innovative companies and universities in Europe and the rest of the world as well as Ericsson's product development and product management units.
Ericsson Research secures technology leadership for the Ericsson group impacting our product design. We have been key contributors in forming the concepts and standardization for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile networks.
We are now recruiting a manager for our Device Research section at Ericsson Research at Lindholmen, Gothenburg, developing and showing new technology to ensure technology leadership and profitable business for Ericsson by:
- Driving Research strategy and contributing to Ericsson technology strategy
- Ensuring that the organization is developing novel concepts, solutions and algorithms and protect them with IPR
- Assuring development of prototypes, concept demonstrations and publications.
- Work towards impact on products and strategy
What you will do
As a line manager, you will lead an organization of around seven researchers. The focus is on hardware and antenna technologies for mobile devices, such as future smartphones, sensors, XR glasses, etc. In this role, you will
- Coach researchers and help them in their development
- Recruit new researchers for a strong and diverse team
- Derive strategies and targets for future research
- Setup projects and ensure execution of research in your organization
- Support Ericsson Group Functions with relevant expertise.
- Interact with key external stakeholders such as academia, research institutes, and industry partners.
- Be a role model for the unit representing the Ericsson values – Professionalism, Respect, Perseverance, and Integrity.
The skills you bring
Postgraduate degree or M.Sc. and some years of experience in working with applied Research.- Experience in leadership, ideally in leading team/project or similar
- Strong leadership capabilities (people, organizational, business)
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to acquire new knowledge, apply it and spread it to others.
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English and good presentation skills
- Ability to formulate problems and solve them independently.
- Creativity and capability to develop and drive new ways of working, to produce research results in a more efficient way
- Skills in coaching Researchers
- Ability to create internal and external contact network
- Customer insight
- Knowledge sharing & collaboration skills
- First-hand experience in innovation and/or patent creation.
