Description of the workplace
The research group, led by Assitant Professor Qiaoli Wang conducts research in integrative pancreatic cancer with the aim of understanding pancreatic cancer with a particular emphasis on precision prevention, diagnostics and medicine. Our work focuses on developing strategies for personalized prevention, individualized risk prediction, early detection, and tailored therapeutic and prognostic tools for pancreatic cancer.
The team currently includes two postdoctoral researchers, two master students and two summer students. Our goal is to be a hub of great talents with different backgrounds, located together at Clinical Cancer Center in Malmö, as a part of the institution of translational medicine.
We are now seeking a highly motivated project assistant with a focus in cancer biology who will work within the Integrative Pancreatic Cancer Research (iPanCare) Lab. We are a part of the SciLifeLab & Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS). iPanCare lab conducts research in the field of precision diagnostics and medicine of pancreatic cancer. Members in iPanCare Lab have chance of being enrolled in the national programs of SciLifeLab and DDLS and attending national schools, various research activities and retreats, which will facilitate their nationwide network and multidisciplinary collaborations. Working with a new Principle Investigator, lab members will benefit from first-hand guidance and freedom of exploring exciting projects within the research area.

Description of the project
Pancreatic cancer is a lethal disease which is characterized by late diagnoses in majority of cancer patients. Earlier detection of pancreatic cancer could improve the survival by intercepting cases at early stage and increasing chances for radical resection. Our lab is interested in looking for novel blood biomarkers for cancer diagnoses. The project assistant will be working on a project of protein biomarker discovery for pancreatic cancer using clinical samples.

Work duties and responsibilities
You will be required to work independently on literature review and summary of key findings and lab techniques that will be used for the project. Your duties include developing detailed experimental protocol for the project, setting up experimental platform, performing related lab works and preliminary data analyses under guidance. The position may require travelling and short-term training in other labs.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- Master’s or equivalent foreign degree within medicine. The Master’s must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made
- Dedication to cancer research
- Good knowledge of biology of pancreatic cancer and extracellular vesicles
- Experience of doing experiments about biomarkers of extracellular vesicles
- Experience of working with human samples
- Skills in common lab works such as ultracentrifugation, flowcytometry and size exclusion chromatograph
- Self-motivated, perseverance, collaborative, diligent, meticulous, and responsible
- Must have good communication skills in both spoken and written English
Meritorious for the position are:
- Skills in organoid related experiments
- Experience of working with mass spectrum
- Scientific journal publication records
- Lab management skills
- Experience of working in an international environment
Additional information
The employment is a special fixed-term for 9 months with a scope of 100 percent, starting September 15th or as agreed. The position is based in Sweden, you are expected to work on-site.
