Thermal Management is a department within Vehicle Technology responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining an optimized cab climate and vehicle cooling & heating systems for all types of propulsion installations to all truck brands within the Volvo Group. We are responsible for leading the work with strategies and advanced engineering globally. We are located at Gothenburg & Bangalore, and we have close cooperation with the sites in Greensboro and Lyon.
In the Thermal Management Hardware Team, you will play an important role in ensuring the successful creation and deployment of a product, from initial concept through to production and maintenance.

What’s in it for you?
We are looking for a Global Component Responsible (GCR) for Electrical Pumps to take ownership of the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of electric pump systems used in thermal management applications across our global product portfolio.
As the GCR, you will be the technical and strategic lead for all activities related to electrical pumps—ensuring alignment with system requirements, platform needs, and long-term technology roadmaps. You will collaborate closely with engineering, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams worldwide to deliver robust, cost-efficient, and future-ready solutions.
As part of a thermal management team, you share with peers your progresses and target to maximize the collective output.
Your key responsibilities in this role include:
- Lead the component development and create road maps for the future
- Drive the technical dialogue with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers
- Ensure automotive safety standards, including ISO 26262 (functional safety), and compliance with high voltage safety regulations
- Contribute to system design in early stages of new projects
- Perform D-FMEA and other proactive quality activities
- Create component technical requirements and interface requirements
- Develop and anchor time plan for component level
- Support testing, fault tracing and builds
Who are we looking for?
A dedicated and skilled automotive engineer with a deep expertise in thermal management, electrical system integration, and cooling technologies.
You are eager to contribute to developing and optimizing high-performance solutions, to enhance our vehicle efficiency, safety, and reliability.
In order to be successful in this role, we believe that you have the following background and qualification:
- M.Sc. degree in in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of automotive experience
- Knowledge of thermal systems and fluid dynamics.
- Competence in circuit design, power electronics, and understanding of high voltage systems.
- Experience from supplier management and the APQProcess.
- Structured way of working and ability to deliver complex tasks with excellence.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills (English - verbal and written).
