Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Actively participate as a member of the Product Development Management Team.
- Contribute to setting annual goals, department budgets, and long-term (5-year) development roadmaps.
- Participate in shaping organizational structure and making recruitment decisions for the broader department.
Program & Project Execution
- Lead the Project Management Team, ensuring successful delivery of product development projects in line with scope, budget, and timeline.
- Support your project managers in leading cross-functional teams from idea to production handover.
- Ensure each project meets its stage gate requirements and milestones.
- Coordinate with Product Line Management and Operations to ensure sample and pre-production volumes meet internal and customer needs.
- Provide clear, structured reporting on project portfolio status to senior management.
- Escalate risks and drive mitigation and recovery plans where needed.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Own and evolve the project management methodology and best practices used within Product Development.
- Continuously refine gate models, templates, and steering mechanisms to increase project predictability and effectiveness.
- Ensure consistent and harmonized execution of projects across the organization.
- Drive a learning culture through post-mortem reviews and structured feedback loops.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated experience in managing teams and leading complex product development projects.
- Formal training and certification in project management strongly preferred.
- A solid foundation in high-tech engineering – experience in semiconductors or adjacent industries is a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable interfacing with all organizational levels.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Willingness to travel internationally to meet with cross-functional teams and customers.

Safety Requirements
All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and II-VI Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.
Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.
Quality & Environmental Responsibilities
Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
