Summarized Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Facility Manager for a new bioanalytical laboratory in Gothenborg, Sweden.
As Facility Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of facility operations of the new bioanalytical laboratory, including procedure and protocol setup, vendor sourcing, and alignment with lab operations. You will develop and implement processes and routines to ensure functional and compliant facilities. You will work closely with the landlord and their asset management team. As the laboratory is currently under construction, the position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of facility operations and the formation of operating procedures.
While this role supports and focuses on the lab operation in Gothenburg, there is potential to connect with and be supported by colleagues within our global facilities operations team.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Manage facilities operations and coordinate with lab operations on day-to-day activities
- Develop, maintain, and follow up on the facility maintenance plan
- Oversee the full lifecycle of facilities contracts—from negotiation and execution to performance monitoring and renewal
- Select and manage vendors, ensuring compliance with contract terms and service level agreements
- Track critical metrics, generate performance reports, and identify areas for service improvement
- Ensure cost-effective use of resources and adherence to budgetary constraints
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and sustainability initiatives
- Manage day-to-day delivery of soft services including cleaning, security, and catering
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client concerns and unresolved facility issues
- Lead and develop a diverse team of vendors/contractors to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Address and resolve issues related to repairs, maintenance, and facility upgrades
- Manage facility-related projects such as smaller fit-outs, service works, renewals, etc
- Maintain clear and effective communication with staff, clients, and contractors
- Prepare and present reports on soft service performance and operational issues
- Promote and implement sustainable practices across all soft service operation
Minimum Qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Facilities management in a similar environment
- Proven experience in facilities management or a related field, a background in analytical lab operations would be beneficial
- Experience with facilities that have complex installations laboratory assets
- Strong organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to express yourself clearly in English and Swedish (both written and spoken)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities with a multi-disciplinary team who need to communicate and cooperate to achieve success
- Out-of-hours on-call availability on occasion
- Experience managing several complex tasks and priorities
