Intermediate Developer – Meela (Mental Health Startup)
Based in Gothenburg Hybrid
About Meela
At Meela, we’re on a mission to make it easier to find the right mental health support, starting with matching people to the therapist that’s the best fit for them. Since launching, we’ve helped over 100,000 people across Sweden and the UK, and we’re just getting started. We’re backed by leading VCs and were recently named one of Europe’s hottest startups.
Our founder Tiffany was named Female Founder of the Year in 2024. But what we’re most proud of is the feedback we get from users: “I finally found someone who gets me.”
About the role
We are looking for a intermediate software developer to join our team of 3 to help build the next stages of the Meela platform. You'll be working on features that directly affect how users find and connect with their ideal therapist — from onboarding flows to therapist matching logic and ongoing communication tools. Your work will directly shape the user experience for both clients and therapists.
We're looking for an intermediate developer who's eager to keep growing, both in your role and together with Meela. You don’t need to know everything; what matters is that you've started your journey and are ready to grow together with us.
The role is based out of our Gothenburg office, though working from home is allowed.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and improve backend functionality in Rust
- Design and maintain GraphQL APIs used by our web platform
- Collaborate with the product and design team to ship features users love
- Building modern frontend interfaces with TypeScript and Solid.js
- Help shape our backend architecture as we grow
- Write clean, pragmatic code that balances speed and scalability
- Debug, fix, and improve performance where needed
- Jump into other parts of the stack when necessary — we're a startup!
What we're looking for
- Intermediate developer with previous experience
- A desire to work with Rust (experience is a plus, but not a must)
- Understanding of database modeling and SQL (we use Postgres)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative environment
- Proactive, independent, and enjoy solving real-world problems with code
- Collaborative mindset and good communication skills
- An interest in mental health and building technology that makes a meaningful impact
Why join us
- Work at a mission-driven company making a real difference
- Grow together with senior developers with years of experience
- Be part of a smart, kind, and fast-moving team
- Flexible hybrid work setup
- Mental health days when you need them
- Free therapy through our network of licensed therapists
- Big opportunities to grow if you’re the right fit
