We are looking for a HPC Onsite Resident Technical Consultant to join us to provide Hardware support for a large HPC (High Performance Computing) systems for a prestigious customer based in Sweden (200kms south of Stockholm).
As a resident technical consultant, you will be working as part of a dedicated team to deliver onsite hardware support to ensure compliance with the strict SLA (Service Level Agreement) associated with the support contract.
All necessary product training will be provided, along with mentoring from colleagues within the WW HPE HPC team to enable the successful candidate to provide the level of support required.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot the HW issues self-detected or raised by the Customer by adopting HPE provided methodology and tooling and escalating to product L2/ L3 support groups and appropriate management to ensure timely resolution
- Carry out the remediation plans for failed hardware components, including firmware version upgrading or downgrading whenever necessary
- Monitor the cooling devices and environmental measurements (temperature, pressure, ...). This includes the addition of coolant and/or chemicals following HPE instructions
- Follow the spare parts process management for receiving & returns, through the application provided by HPE and monitor and regularly update the spare parts inventory
- Occasionally work as part of a wider team to provide support to other customers within EMEA.
Education and Experience required:
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a computer science or related discipline.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience of Computer Systems hardware support.
Knowledge and Skills:
- A working knowledge of Linux Systems and the ability to perform hardware repairs are mandatory requirements.
- Knowledge of HPC systems and parallel filesystems, such as lustre, is desirable.
- Possess an analytical approach to problem solving and be fully committed to drive issues to a conclusion.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
- An ability to stay calm and professional under pressure while working to strict deadlines is essential.
- The candidate should be flexible and willing to travel when required.
- English language is mandatory, Swedish is desirable
