Avalanche Studios Group is looking for an experienced Game Designer (Combat) to join our team to work on an unannounced AAA title. Avalanche Studios is the division dedicated to ambitious, externally published, AAA open-world games like the Just Cause series, Mad Max, and Rage 2. As a Game Designer (Combat) in Avalanche Studios, you will be responsible for designing, creating, and balancing combat related content and systems using our in-house tools.In this position, you will collaborate closely with the Narrative Designers, Gameplay and System Designers, Animators, Coders, Sound Designers, Artists, and other key stakeholders to effectively realize the vision for the game’s combat experience.

What you'll do:

Design stylized character combat mechanics & content while collaborating with other team members to build engaging combat experiences
Utilize our in-house tools to prove & grow player character mechanics and AI enemy mechanics
Adjust play balance based on feedback
Support process workflows & regularly communicate status of tasks

Who you are:

Solid working experience as a gameplay designer, preferably with a combat focus
Experience from at least one released title containing combat elements
Experience working with game editors such as UnrealEd/Hammer
Basic understanding of programming and, ideally, scripting experience/knowledge (Python, LUA or equal)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
