We are now looking for a BU Controller Skoghall to join BA Controlling team in Food Service & Liquid Board Business Area. You will report to VP, BA Controlling, and be a member of Skoghall Leadership team. The position is located in Karlstad.
As BU Controller Skoghall the purpose of the job is to assume full financial ownership of the Business Unit's (Board Plant and Sawmill) end-to-end performance, holding direct Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility.
Main responsibilities / key tasks
The main tasks cover areas such as, but not limited to:
- Business Partnering and “Co-Pilot” to Business Unit Head playing a critical leadership role in driving profitability, cash flow and value creation initiatives
- Serve as a key member of the BU Leadership team proactively challenging and steering business performance towards ambitious financial targets
- Takes full EBIT and cashflow responsibility of the end-to-end business for the Business Unit ensuring operational, investment and strategic decisions are aligned with financial objectives
- Lead the recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning of the controlling teams at 2 sites (Board Plant and Sawmill Gruvön), fostering a positive performance culture, with financial focus in line with Stora Enso’s leadership principles.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and healthy work environment for controlling team members and across the Business Unit
- Management and development of finance and controlling within the responsibility of the own Business Unit (as agreed upon with Country Accounting Services, where applicable) and ensuring that all deliverables meet the requirements of IFRS, local legislation and Stora Enso’s Code of Conduct.
- Financial and controlling support for the decision-making at the integrated Plant to ensure that Plant targets on Safety and Wellbeing, Sustainability and Financial & Operational Performance are met.
- Including involvement in supporting / driving World-Class Manufacturing and operating cost optimization and OWC from financial/controlling point of view
- Represent the Business Unit in all local financial matters with internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver all finance and controlling outputs to Business Area, Group Functions, and the Business Unit Leadership, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and business relevance
- Take part in special projects and investigations where finance / controlling input is needed.
While this is a senior leadership position, it requires a hands-on approach to daily controlling operations, ensuring financial excellence and discipline at all levels of the Business Unit. The BU Controller is an integral part of the Business Unit Management Team, with explicit accountability for financial stewardship, operational insight, and strategic support across the full P&L scope.
Additional responsibilities and tasks may be assigned based on personal qualifications and evolving business needs.
Position requirements
- University or University of Applied Sciences degree in economics or other relevant area
- Extensive, proven experience in senior finance roles, with direct P&L ownership and responsibility for business unit-level financial performance
- Full professional fluency in English; additional language skills are considered an asset
- Advanced proficiency in financial reporting and ERP systems, such as SAP, OneStream, or equivalent
- Strong business acumen with the ability to challenge, influence, and drive operational and strategic decisions through financial insights
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a successful track record in building and developing high-performing finance teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills combined with a hands-on, results-driven approach
