Are you a battery storage expert eager to shape how renewable energy assets maximize their value across Europe?
Fantastic, welcome to Alight! We're an entrepreneurial scale-up with a strong purpose: to kick carbon off the grid by helping businesses save money with solar from day one. As one of Europe’s leading solar independent power producers, we’re rapidly expanding into battery storage – not only to generate revenue but to enhance our PPA products and manage portfolio risk.
This is where you come in. As our BESS Revenue Optimizer, you’ll be Alight’s go-to expert on the full battery revenue stack – from ancillary services and energy arbitrage to hybrid solar + storage setups. Your insights will be foundational for investment decisions, commercial structuring, and ongoing asset performance. This is an opportunity to truly shape Alight’s battery storage strategy and make a lasting impact on the energy transition.
Your impact
In this role, you will model and evaluate how BESS assets generate value, ensuring our solar and storage projects meet the highest commercial standards. You’ll collaborate closely with our PPA, sales, and investment teams to integrate storage solutions into client offerings and optimize performance in merchant markets. Over time, you’ll help us define best practices for operating and dispatching batteries across Europe, driving the long-term success of our portfolio.
KEY OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead modeling of expected and historical BESS revenues across all relevant markets and services
Analyze hybrid PPA structures to maximize returns and reduce portfolio risks
Collaborate with PPA and sales teams to demonstrate storage value to clients
Support investment decisions with revenue modeling and commercial insights
Identify, select, and manage optimization partners (BSPs) to ensure high performance
Oversee BSP operations and dispatch strategies for optimal asset performance
Act as Alight’s internal battery revenue expert, tracking market and regulatory developments
We’re looking for you
We believe you’re an experienced battery or energy markets professional who thrives at the intersection of technology, commercial strategy, and operations. You have hands-on experience optimizing BESS assets and a strong understanding of how market dynamics and dispatch decisions drive returns.
Whether you’re currently leading optimization for a utility, trader, or IPP – or you’re a commercial battery expert ready for a bigger platform – what matters most is your passion for renewable energy and your ability to turn battery data into business value.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 - 6 years of experience in the energy sector, with hands-on with BESS, energy markets, or trading
Proven experience operating or optimizing grid-connected batteries in active power markets
Deep understanding of revenue stacking: arbitrage, ancillary services, frequency containment, solar load shifting
Strong analytical and commercial mindset, able to connect technical performance with financial outcomes
Experience managing BSPs or working with control rooms/trading desks
Solid knowledge of battery degradation, dispatch optimization, and risk management in merchant markets
Advanced Excel skills; Python/R or Power BI is a strong plus
Clear communicator, collaborative team player, and proactive problem solver
