Vattenfall is seeking a Junior Compliance & Sustainability Specialist based in Solna, Sweden.
Sustainable Supply Chain Management
The function is placed within the Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) Team of Staff Function Sustainability currently consisting of 1 senior sustainability advisor, 1 senior compliance specialist, 2 sustainability advisors, 6 junior compliance & sustainability specialists, the manager, and the advertised position.
What will you do?
As a part of supporting the integration of sustainability within Goods & Services Procurement and Fuels sourcing, the team has developed into a competence center performing (enhanced) due diligence on behalf of other units in the Vattenfall-wide counterparty screening process.
In this process counterparties are scrutinized with regard to risk for money laundering, terrorism financing, lacking social responsibility etc. The team is also responsible for compliance with regulations, which includes tasks such as trainings, controls and the drafting of internal instructions.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Conduct Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence by reviewing and approving counterparties, both at onboarding of the counterparties and as part of the ongoing monitoring of existing counterparties for Procurement Goods & Services
- Conduct Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence by reviewing and approving counterparties towards other units e.g. Mergers & Acquisitions, BA Wind etc…
- Support with the roll-out of training materials to other units that need screening support e.g. BA Wind, Mergers & Acquisitions, Nuclear Fuels etc…
- Support with the documentation of screenings as well as gathering of various types of statistics on compliance activities (in relation to KPI’s)
- Perform benchmarks and desktop studies, support and participate in activities related to the Sustainable Supply Chain Roadmap and other activities with the Sustainability team aimed at further develop and integrate sustainability into Vattenfall’s processes and activities
- Perform code of conduct comparisons and evaluations, audit report reviews and provide recommendations
Qualifications
Who are you?
As a (junior) Compliance & Sustainability Specialist you should have 1 to 2 years of experience and sense for organizational and administrational processes. Besides that you also havve strong analytical and social skills and you’re able to handle pressure while remaining flexible and adaptable to changing demands.
Next to this you bring:
- Self-driving and self-motivated with a sense of responsibility and a high degree of confidentiality
- Enduring attention to details and analytical abilities
- Comfortable/confident to interact also with various managers across the organization and overcome resistance (which others can show towards administrational processes)
- The ability to extract, synthesize, and convey relevant, understandable insights from very complex topics including judgement calls of social aspects
- Assertive and self-assured individual who is able to communicate effectively and confidently in a variety of situations
- Humility as a key element of your collaboration philosophy, coupled with a sense of determination
- Identify with our principles: active, open, positive and safety
Requirements:
- Recent graduate with an academic degree in e.g sustainable science/development, supply chain management, legal studies in e.g. human rights.
- Strong interest and ability to work with data (data gathering, analytics and reporting) via Excel, PowerBI and/or SQL.
- Strong interest in sustainability (environmental, social and governance) topics and a willingness to develop in that area
- Excellent English skills are required, Chinese Mandarin is a merit
