The Swedish Institute is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and visionary Dean of Nursing to provide academic leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of the Nursing Program. The Dean is responsible for ensuring academic excellence, program integrity, regulatory compliance, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation in nursing education.
This position plays a key role in upholding the mission, values, and goals of the Swedish Institute and ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare community.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership
• Provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and assessment of the nursing curriculum in accordance with state, accreditation, and institutional standards.
• Foster academic excellence and innovation in teaching and learning methodologies.
• Monitor student learning outcomes and ensure continuous program improvement.
Administration & Compliance
• Oversee all aspects of the nursing program’s daily operations, including faculty management, course scheduling, student advising, and clinical placements.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., ACEN, ACCSC), New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations, and other relevant governing bodies.
• Prepare and submit reports for accreditation, licensing, and regulatory purposes.
Faculty Development
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate nursing faculty and staff.
• Promote professional development and continuing education among faculty to maintain current best practices in nursing education.
• Lead faculty meetings and foster a collaborative academic environment.
Student Support & Success
• Promote a culture focused on student achievement, retention, and graduation.
• Address student concerns and support academic advising in partnership with faculty and student services.
• Facilitate initiatives to enhance the student learning experience and post-graduation outcomes.
Clinical Partnerships
• Establish and maintain partnerships with clinical agencies to ensure quality clinical placements.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare partners to align educational outcomes with industry needs.
Coordinate and schedule Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings at least twice annually, maintaining consistent collaboration.
Strategic Planning
• Participate in institutional planning and decision-making as a member of the academic leadership team.
• Contribute to the development and execution of long-term goals for program growth and improvement.
Required:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) required; Doctorate in Nursing or related field (DNP, PhD, EdD) strongly preferred.
- Current and unencumbered RN license in New York State.
- Minimum of 5 years of academic leadership experience in nursing education.
- Proven experience in program development, curriculum design, and accreditation processes.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with ACEN or other nursing accreditation processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies including NYSED and the New York Board of Nursing.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in nursing education.
