Textile waste is a growing global challenge. Syre’s mission is to decarbonize and dewaste textiles, starting with the world's biggest fiber, polyester. By implementing true textile-to-textile recycling at hyperscale, we want to drive the transition from a linear to a circular value chain by putting textile waste to use, over and over again.
The Construction Director will be responsible for leading Syre’s technical qualification of industrial parks and defining construction plans with industrial parks. This includes managing Syre’s on site construction project activities in Vietnam, ensuring the successful execution from inception to completion. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in construction excellence and project success to play a key role in shaping the company’s business in Vietnam.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Responsible for leading the Technical qualification and defining strategy for construction plans with industrial parks
- Participate in assessment of industrial parks, evaluating whether they are sufficiently qualified for the Syre establishment
- Define scope of deliverables for industrial parks in agreement for future modifications & improvements, including plan for infrastructure updates related to industrial park and energy
- Responsible for planning, budgeting, and execution of Syre’s construction plant project in Vietnam, to ensure completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
- Develop and execute comprehensive construction project plan, including scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, and risk management
- Select and manage relationships with local contractors, suppliers, and vendors, ensuring all contracts are compliant with regulatory requirements
- Build local team and coordinate all internal Syre resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of construction project, including close collaboration with industrial park, energy providers, consultants and construction companies
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met, including monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures and prepare financial reports and forecasts, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions
- Monitor and report on project risks, implementing contingency plans as needed
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies
We would prefer if you
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Proven and extensive experience in construction management of large scale projects
- Proven experience in construction management, capital expenditure planning, and project management (certification is a plus)
- Strong local network and deep experience in selecting, negotiating, and managing relationships with local contractors, suppliers, and vendors
- Knowledge of relevant local regulations, industry standards, and safety requirements
- Experience from working with international companies establishing in Vietnam is a plus
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and cost control
- Excellent partnership development and negotiation skills, including knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
- Impact-oriented with a strong drive to get things done, deliver results, and optimize for speed
- Fluency in Vietnamese and proficiency in English
You will be reporting to the COO, and the role is located close to Syre establishment in Vietnam, with ability to travel as required
